Since 1986, Prevention File has reported regularly on current research, field experiences, public policy applications, innovations, trends, and strategies concerned with reducing health and safety problems arising from alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. Prevention File began at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
Today, the Silver Gate Group carries on the Prevention File tradition. Barbara Ryan continues as editor, Bob Zimmerman, editor emeritus, Angela Goldberg, associate editor, Rod Skager, contributing editor, Rich Rogo, cartoonist, J. Lane Designs, production, and Precision Litho, printing. Prevention File is one of a kind and accepts no commercial advertisements. A scientific and policy advisory board, including University of California faculty and scientists at national research centers, preview articles for accuracy and currency.
Prevention File regularly features exclusive Q&A interviews with prevention researchers and public health advocates, timely updates on alcohol and tobacco industry retailers and producers, an ongoing interpretive series on national and international research centers, media analysis, and resource reviews.
